Victoria's Unique Homes - July Issue 2006

A source of fresh inspiration

Canny Design Manager Attila Csaplar and I recently had the pleasure of spending a few days exploring the Designbuild Australia exhibition in Melbourne.

Held annually, Designbuild is a ‘trade-only’ event, and is the largest exhibition of its type in Australia, featuring more than 450 local and international exhibitors.

It is a great place to see (and be inspired by) international developments in leading-edge residential design and construction, as well as brand new products being showcased exclusively for the first time in this country.

Designbuild 2006 also included a range of exciting seminars, which saw leading international experts presenting the world’s freshest building and design ideas.

Canny is keen to remain at the forefront of prestige home design and construction in Australia, and Designbuild certainly provided plenty of opportunities to view some exciting innovations.

Along with fantastic developments in building materials, equipment, techniques and finishes (including many derived from the commercial and industrial building sectors), this year’s Designbuild was underpinned by an unprecedented emphasis on sustainable, energy-efficient homes.

Certainly, energy efficiency is the way of the future, and the range of new products available to boost it, is phenomenal, ranging from new thermally-efficient window technologies, to the latest ‘Smart Home’ electronics to enhance a home’s livability like never before.

Over the years, thanks to our ever-inquisitive, creative and quality-minded team, Canny has become renowned for designing and building liveable, high-quality homes incorporating the best and latest ideas from around the globe.
